Report

Participants attended from Dharawal, Awabakal, Giabal and Turbal, Wardandi, Wangal, Wurundgeri and Bunurong, Ngumnawal and Ngambri, and Wathaurong land. There was also editors from Ballarat (Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung) and Brisbane (Turrbal). There were 18 participants across the morning, many of whom were first time editors. After a brief introduction, experienced editors were able to move themselves into a breakout room to edit undisturbed. Polly was the leader in this room.

New editors stayed in the main space with Pru. Pru ran through the basics of Wikipedia policy, taught participants to add edits, and create a citation automatically. There was an extra breakout room created in order to allow people to ask specific questions. 6 participants used this space for assistance with setting up user names and accounts. At the end of the session, four new pages had been created listed below. Six new editors were added to the project.

It was noted that it would be good to have a follow up session soon to reinforce skills. It was also noted that it would be good to have editors focus on religions such as Judaism, Islam, Buddhism and Goddess, Witches and New Religion traditions.

It was also noted that if religious women don’t fit any other category, the Australian Women Philanthropists category is suitable.
