Wikimedia Australia is run by a committee that is elected each year at the AGM. The committee comprises four office-bearers and two ordinary members.
The current committee was elected on 25 November 2012 at the Annual General Meeting of 2012-13.
- President
John Vandenberg manages data analysis and strategy in the Research Services Directorate at the University of New England. He has a graduate diploma from the Queensland University of Technology, and has worked as a network and software engineer as well as lecturing in IT at TAFE and private colleges.
Before becoming involved in Wikimedia, John was an open-source developer, providing improvements to projects such as Mozilla, Open Office, Bugzilla, and Apache Portable Runtime. In 2006 he shifted focus from open source to open content, becoming an administrator on the English Wikipedia and Wikisource projects in 2007. In 2008 and 2009 he served on the interim and inaugural Wikimedia Australia committee, and served on the English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee of 2009 and 2011.
- Vice president
Graham Pearce is from Perth. He is interested in music – mostly classical – number theory, and the history and geography of Western Australia. He uses the screenreader JAWS with a speech synthesiser to access the Internet. His contributions to the English Wikipedia – where he is an administrator – include copy-editing, article cleanups, and more substantial edits.
- Treasurer
Craig Franklin works as a business analyst, focusing on statutory financial reporting, cost accounting, and business intelligence. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the Queensland University of Technology and is studying for a Master's degree in library science and knowledge management. He has been involved in Wikimedia since 2004, creating dozens of new articles, especially on Australian history, political figures, and cricketers.
- Secretary
Charles Gregory has been editing the English Wikipedia since 2002, particularly focused on articles linked to his home state of Tasmania. He is involved in Wikimedia Hobart events, including meetups and outreach/training work. He is the chapter's representative on the Wikimedia Chapters Association Council, and also handles the chapter's social media channels.
- Ordinary member
Steven Zhang is from Melbourne and has been editing Wikipedia since 2008. Most of his activities include dispute resolution and mediation, including improving processes and helping out at the dispute resolution noticeboard, which he created. He is also an organiser of our regular Melbourne meetups.
Kerry Raymond is a Professor of Computer Science at Queensland University of Technology, where her main duties are in research management. She is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute for Company Directors. Kerry also has a range of skills in issues such as governance, strategic, financial, establishing and running large collaborative projects.
