Chapter meeting delegates

Discussion in regard to who would be sent to Berlin for the Chapters meeting covered a range of issues. In particular, it was argued that it would be advantageous for someone who had attended previously to go as one of the two, and that one of the attendees should also be attending the Fundraising Summit. It was also suggested that it would be best if the majority of the committee were able to meet people from different chapters. Given that Adam had chosen not to attend Berlin, and that Adam and John hoped to attend Wikimania to deliver papers, discussion focused on Craig and Andrew as delegates for Berlin. It was also noted during discussion that the two-person limit per Chapter was fixed.

Motion: That Wikimedia Australia will send Craig and Andrew to attend the Chapters meeting in Berlin.

  • Moved: John
  • Seconded: Adam
  • Carried without dissent.

Recent Changes Camp

Discussion in regard to the RecentChangesCamp was extensive and revolved around a number of issues. The concerns were in regard to three issues: should the Chapter sponsor Mark Dilley's attendance as facilitator of the event; would it be possible to provide funding for people to attend; would that funding extend to people from overseas; and would it be possible to include an Oceania Chapter meeting as part of the event. Questions were raised about all these topics, focusing on time constraints; whether or not the Recent Changes Camp is consistent with the purpose of the Chapter; whether or not any financial assistance in regard attendance should be limited to members or include non-members; why Mark Dilley was required for the event; and the extent to which overseas people could receive financial assistance.

During the discussion, Charles had to leave the computer for half an hour, so it was decided that we would take a break while those attending looked into the Recent Changes Camp. When things started again, Craig had joined the meeting.

Consensus was towards supporting both local and international attendees.

Motion: That Wikimedia Australia will make available $5,000 to assist people wishing to attend Recent Changes Camp Canberra. Preference given to members, but non-members may also apply.

  • Moved: John
  • Seconded: Craig
  • Carried without dissent.

Note: as part of this discussion, it was noted that accommodation would be set to going rate for a dorm room at Canberra Central.

Motion: That the committee approves the proposal, submitted by Laura Hale, for a travel grant to sponsor Mark Dilley as a facilitator at RCC Canberra.

  • Moved: John
  • Seconded: Adam
  • Carried without dissent.

Test Wiki

Motion: That the committee approves the proposal, introduced on the chapter wiki, for the development of a Test Wiki.

  • Moved: Craig
  • Seconded: John
  • Carried without dissent.

Licence changes

Motion: That all content in content namespaces on websites controlled by the Wikimedia Australia, Inc. must be either public domain in Australia, licensed under CC-BY-SA, or explicitly approved by the committee and its copyright status clearly recorded on each page where it appears, per the content relicence proposal.

  • Moved: Craig
  • Seconded: Andrew
  • Carried without dissent.

Wikipedia Day

There was some discussion around the various Wikipedia day proposals. The possibility of supporting events was raised, and it was felt that the Chapter should provide some support to the meetups in making funds available to cover venue hire and assist with food.

Motion: That the Wikimedia Australia committee allocate up to $2,500 for Wikimedia Ten events around the country. Funds will be distributed on application.

  • Moved: Andrew
  • Seconded: Craig
  • Carried without dissent.
