    Following our 'Introducing: Wikipedia' workshop, we're hosting an online drop in session open to everyone to ask questions, share your work, or just hang out and edit Wikipedia together. Drop in using the Zoom link. All attendees are also expected to understand and abide by the Universal Code of Conduct for the Wikimedia Movement and Wikimedia Australia Safe Space Policy.

    Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia and the 6th most visited website on the internet! Wikipedia content is created and edited worldwide by volunteer contributors. In this one hour workshop, staff from Wikimedia Australia will show you how to edit Wikipedia, and why it is so important, so you can join a global movement of contributors from around the world. You'll learn how to edit a Wikipedia page, add references, add an image, and create your User Page. No experience is necessary, just sign up for a Wikipedia account ahead of time so you can follow along. Workshops will be held the first Wednesday of the month, and are followed by an open drop-in session where anyone can ask questions no matter how big or small.

    WikiCon Aotearoa 2024 is the annual gathering for all new and experienced editors of Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikisource projects. Anyone interested in editing is welcome to attend. This conference is organised by Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand (WANZ). It aims to provide training to new editors, to encourage editors to learn new skills, to grow the Wiki community in Auckland and to ensure that we have a fun weekend.

    In 2024, celebrate International Women's Day (IWD) by helping Yarra Libraries and the Women's Art Register close the gender gap in Wikipedia articles and editors in our Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. As the largest general reference work on the internet, Wikipedia is hugely popular. But just 18% of biographies on Wikipedia are about women. The Women's Art Register works to improve coverage about women artists both online and with their Hard Copy Archive at Richmond Library. Join us to amplify the voices of Australian women artists and designers. No experience is required. Please bring your own laptop.     Ever looked up something about the Northern Territory on Wikipedia and couldn't find it? The Environment Centre NT is working to change that with Wikimedian in Residence Caddie Brain. We're working to update pages about the NT's natural environment, in partnership with Wikimedia Australia. Wikipedia is a free online encyclopaedia - the go-to place for basic information about everything and anything. And anyone can edit and upload content. Come and learn how to edit Wikipedia and work together on pages about NT places, plants, animals, ecology, people, projects... you name it! All welcome! No experience is necessary. Just bring your own laptop or device. Participants are encouraged to set up their Wikipedia account prior to the day if you don’t already have one. This is a free event.   • 28 Jan- 1 Feb 2013: ACT - Australia's national Linux conference will be held in Canberra, a great place to meet up with others in the open source community. The conference can offer some financial support (involvement in projects such as Wikipedia is one of the criteria).
  • 9-11 February 2013: QLD - ALIA's New Librarians Symposium will be held in Brisbane. WMAU was a sponsor of the event. WMF Exec Director Sue Gardner was a keynote speaker. There was a presentation on WMAU's work with the APC on HOPAU. WMAU had a booth and distributed information and membership forms.
  • 12-15 February 2013: QLD - ALIA's Information Online conference, also in Brisbane, Sue Gardner was a keynote speaker, introduced by Liam Wyatt of WMAU.
  • 21 February 2013: VIC - Wikipedia training day in Bendigo. More information is available on Outreach wiki.
