Proposal talk: Quarterly board meetings

Line 2: Line 2:
This proposal builds on the face to face board meeting that took place in January - as face to face has been a productive way to get things done. As the proposal states, these would be quarterly meetings, like the proposed Wikimedia Australia meetups. Quick question: If the idea is to pick locations that have run successful WMAU meetups and/or have important events that require the presence of the committee, how would we pick the upcoming location (in, say, April) if the first WMAU meetup would be in April. Maybe we should factor in locally run community meetups (like the ones Sydney and Melbourne have run) as well when choosing a location? [[User:Steven Zhang|Steven Zhang]] 23:14, 8 March 2013 (EST)

::Flights from many cities to Sydney are generally lower from what I've found, and it is a major event so it may be something worth looking into. F2F board meetings would continue to be on the weekend, or would they sometimes be on weekdays (speaking personally, I'd find it a bit tricky to attend a board meeting in another state on a weekday due to work). Steven Zhang 23:14, 8 March 2013 (EST)

If we were to have a F2F in April, Sydney and the Proposal:2013 Wikimedia in higher education symposium seems ideal. But it is starting to be too short notice for that to happen economically. John Vandenberg 22:38, 9 March 2013 (EST)
Flights from many cities to Sydney are generally lower from what I've found, and it is a major event so it may be something worth looking into. F2F board meetings would continue to be on the weekend, or would they sometimes be on weekdays (speaking personally, I'd find it a bit tricky to attend a board meeting in another state on a weekday due to work).
