I, Brian Salter-Duke, have been Public Officer of Wikimedia Australia Inc. since we incorporated, From January 2009 to the 2009 AGM, and from May, 2010 to the 2010 AGM in September, I was Treasurer.
As Public Officer, I was responsible for submitting the application for incorporation, and I am generally the point of contact between the Victorian Department of Consumer Affairs and Wikimedia Australia Inc. The continuing role involves submitting the annual reports to the Victorian Department of Consumer Affairs. I have also been responsible for seeking approval for fund raising from those States and Territories that require it, and, perhaps more importantly, determining that some States and Territories do not require us to seek approval. In the end we had to obtain approval from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania.
I am a retired academic having worked in chemistry departments in universities in four countries finishing at was then the Northern Territory University, now Charles Darwin University. I now have an adjunct position at Monash University in Medicinal Chemistry on the Parkville Campus. My specialty is computational chemistry which can use a lot of computer resources trying to solve the Schrödinger equation for molecules. I am the co-author of one program, but use programs from several other researchers.
