User:Lankiveil/Proposal:Travel assistance scheme for Wikimedia Takes the Australian War Memorial

Revision as of 12:40, 3 August 2012 by Lankiveil (talk | contribs) (meant "in total")

Background

Three members of the Australian Wikimedia community, being Laura Hale, Hawkeye7, and Nick-D, are arranging a "Wikimedia Takes..." event at the Australian War Memorial. See w:Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes the Australian War Memorial The committee has received a number of enquiries as to whether the chapter can fund their attendance. Rather than deal with these requests on an ad hoc basis, this proposal seeks to solicit membership input and consensus on an appropriate budget and structure for any assistance.

Fit to Strategic Plan

This proposal matches with the core strategic programme of "Support volunteer initiatives", as well as the consolidation priorities of "Organise and support 'real life' events" and "Identify and improve key Australian content".

Details

Up to $2000 in total will be assigned to reimburse members of the Australian Wikimedia community for travel to and from Canberra for the purposes of this event. These funds may be accessed by an application to the committee (applications already made before the approval of this proposal will also be considered). Applications should at a minimum consist of the names of the applicant/s, an estimated costing for travel to Canberra, and costings for accomodation and other expenses. Applicants should use the ATO per diem rates for 2012 as a guide in preparing their application, and any requests in excess of these guides will need to be justified.

Successful applicants will be expected to provide a report to the committee, or links to a portfolio of freely licensed (as per current Wikimedia Commons standards) and uploaded content created as a result of the trip, within 30 days of the end of the event.
