John, I realise that the proposal page for WLM not has a thread on it like a talk page ... my fault. Should most of that thread be moved to the talk page overleaf? Tony1 19:10, 11 December 2012 (EST)

:I dont think it matters much.  Discussion anywhere is good.  When the proposal is ready for voting, it will need to be cleaned up a bit, but the discussion would still be available in the history. 17:31, 12 December 2012 (EST)

Nice new pic, John!
User:Moondyne has replied affirmatively to my email from a few weeks ago about becoming involved in WLM—either as contributor, advisor, or judge—if the chapter decides to participate in 2013. I don't think s/he is a member, and the question was, what's the next move. I presume Moondyne can't post on this site unless a member? Tony1 01:09, 31 December 2012 (EST)

Hi

Hi John. Any thoughts you might have (or discussions you might point to) about COI bylaws would be very welcome. And if you can provide diffs that will give me a background for this chapter, that would be much appreciated, too. --Anthonyhcole 01:51, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Hi Anthony, it is great to see you here. See the last paragraph of Proposal:Conflict of interest policy, and my comments at Talk:Conflict of interest policy. I am also quite impressed with where WMUK is going - they have a more active community of people pushing for greater disclosure and less AGF, which is resulting in greater transparency. (I wish I could import a few of these people to help us write our COI policy and guidelines.)
Background .. hmm ..
The organisation has two meetings each month. On the first Sunday we have a public IRC meeting, with the transcript published. On the third Sunday the committee has a private IRC meeting, and the minutes are published on the public wiki. I try to ensure that the committee minutes are published before the following public IRC meeting, but that's not always been possible.
We started the organisation with this wiki as editable by members only, and a private mailing list. In 2010-11 we established a proposals process, re-licensed the wiki, and opened it for non-member participation. The private mailing list has had its positives and negatives; the main negative is that participation in the public Australian mailing list has dropped significantly.
We received quite a large amount of donations and good-will from Australians in the 2010 Fundraiser. We have been quite conservative about spending the money, slowly developing innovative programs and carefully selecting the content projects and partners in order to strategically focus our effort and funds.
The 2012 AGM is just around the corner. Non-members are welcome to attend and contribute. If you are interested in a physical meeting, mention your interest and location at 2012 AGM. We'll announce details regarding pyjama attendance (IRC/teleconference) shortly.
The most important item at the AGM will be the 2013 Annual Plan. Nobody has commented publicly about it because the feedback tends to be given on the private mailing list (see problem mentioned above). Perhaps you could be the first to provide public feedback. Any member can edit the annual plan before the AGM; as a non-member you will need to suggest edits on the talk page and hope a member integrates your suggestions into the text. Thanks, John. I'll browse around. --Anthonyhcole 14:39, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Proposal page vs talk page
