Did you know only 19% of biographies on Wikipedia are about women and a mere 9% of Wikipedia contributors identify as female? Research has shown Women in STEM are particularly underrepresented compared to male counterparts. Time to take some action! Join us for a Wikipedia edit-a thon to create profiles on Wikipedia to highlight the achievements of women in STEM and help reduce the bias in content online.
The event will also feature a Q&A panel featuring Women in STEM from a variety of backgrounds:
- Dr Cathy Foley: Australia's Chief Scientist
- Dr Steph Gardner: Researcher for the Centre of Marine Science and Innovation at UNSW Sydney
- Dr Eser Zerenturk: Education Manager at Sydney Quantum Academy
We hope to see you there!
- Edit-a-thon: 10:30am - 2pm
- Panel Start Time: 2:30pm
Region: NSW
