In 2023, ACMI received funding to host a resident as part of our Partner Projects. Through this project ACMI’s extensive collection of biographies and films has been cross-referenced and integrated into Wikidata. Additionally, entries from Wikidata have been included in the ACMI online collection and website. An expert Wikimedian in Residence used inhouse software tools to analyse and support the ‘two way’ comparison and migration.  This project also used apps and a roadmap to support ACMI staff with deeper engagement with Wikidata.  The positive results and viability of this proof of concept means that ACMI will continue this project into the future with plans for the next 12 months underway.

They also partnered with Wikimedia Australia to hold two edit-a-thons as part of their Goddess exhibition.

On International Museums Day 2018, two Wikimedians ran a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at ACMI-X in Melbourne, to create and improve pages about museums and galleries in the state of Victoria.

Linking ACMI to Wikidata As part of Wikimedia Australia’s Partner Projects, ACMI has hosted Paul Duchesne as their Wikimedian in Residence to link ACMI's catalogue items to Wikidata.
