Wikidata is a free and open knowledge base that can be read and edited by both humans and machines. Launched in 2012, Wikidata acts as central storage for the structured data of its Wikimedia sister projects including Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, Wiktionary, Wikisource, and others.
People are meeting up across the world to help link data across different Wikimedia platforms. The City of Sydney Library has joined this movement in partnership with Wikimedia Australia to host training and edit-a-thons to increase and improve content relevant to our diverse communities.
No experience needed. Just sign up for a Wikipedia account in advance and bring along your laptop and connect to the library’s free wi-fi!
