Celebrating Achievement: OAM Awarded to Sports Historian and Wikipedia Editor for Paralympic Contributions
We are thrilled to congratulate Greg Blood on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his outstanding service to sports history and information. This prestigious recognition, awarded in January 2025, highlights Greg's significant contributions to the documentation and visibility of Paralympic sports and athletes in Australia.
As a sports information specialist, Greg's involvement in the History of the Paralympic Movement in Australia project (HoPAu) has been transformative. The cross-wiki project, organised by the Australian Paralympic Committee, the National Sport Information Centre, and Wikimedia Australia aims to collect, manage, and preserve the history of the Paralympic movement in Australia. Incredibly, since joining the project, Greg has created over 300 Wikipedia articles on Australian Paralympians, sharing their stories with the world and ensuring they receive the public recognition they deserve.
Thank you, Greg, for your unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting the history of the Paralympic movement in Australia on Wikipedia and its sister projects.
