Summary
DescriptionGrevillea caleyi seed bagging.jpg
English: A worker from the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan places an organza bag over a mature follicle of a wild Grevillea caleyi containing a single seed. Once the follicle dehisces, the seed will be released into the bag, allowing it to be collected and sent to the Australian Plantbank. Collected seeds will be used to research ideal growing conditions for the species to further aid in its conservation, as well as to provide an insurance population and maintain genetic diversity. This work is essential as G. caleyi is a critically endangered species known from only a few isolated subpopulations which are under threat.
