DescriptionMedaka (Oryzias latipes) egg, day 0.jpg
English: A captive medaka/Japanese rice fish (Oryzias latipes) egg, photographed a few hours after it was deposited on a piece of moss. The "bubbles" inside the egg are droplets of oil that provide lipids to the developing embryo, and the strings visible to the right of the egg are what remains of the filaments that adhere the eggs to the mother fish before they are deposited.
