Inspiring SA
In October 2022, Wikimedia Australia was invited to Adelaide to run two training sessions with Inspiring SA who aim to enhance public engagement with sciences and improve scientific literacy. This sessions featured a presentation from Wikimedia Australia's Communications and Project Coordinator James Gaunt, and Wikipedia Administrator Adam Jenkins.
James gave an introduction to the many projects Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikisource, and how they interact with STEMM (science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine) projects.
Adam discussed in detail the many quirks of Wikipedia to better prepare each attendee as they began to edit, improve, and create new Wikipedia pages about South Australia's STEMM community.
Articles on Adelaide born astronaut Andy Thomas and a list page featuring winners of SA Scientist of the Year were among those updated.
Each attendee made edits to Wikipedia, and were encouraged to continue editing with copies of a step by step Wikipedia editing guide to take home.
