Overall membership
As at 30 June 2026 the membership was as follows:

We welcomed 27 new members since 1 July 2025, and 16 members have resigned or not renewed, giving a total of 98 members. During February 2026 we did reach 100 members, however due to lack of renewals this had dropped to 98 by 30 June 2026. We have seen particularly strong interest and growth in females applying to join.
Geographic
The geographic spread of members generally mirrors Australia’s population spread, with most in NSW and Victoria, followed by Queensland and Western Australia.

Gender
Closing the gender gap is a priority across the Wikimedia movement and we're continuing to make improvements in this area. Wikimedia Australia does not ask members to disclose their gender, therefore our best assessment suggests membership through 2025/26 was approximately 47% female (previous years 36%, increased to 42.7% in 2025), 51% male (previous years 64%, then 53.9% in 2025), with 2% unable to be determined (3.4% in 2025, but not counted in previous years).
