Meeting talk:Public (2012-12-02)

Freopedia

(Sorry everyone that I didn't make it to the meeting yesterday. Was intending to, but was entrenched in painting and didn't want a splattery keyboard...)

The Freopedia edit-a-thon on Saturday wasn't quite a resounding success in terms of numbers of attendees. Basically, I and user:gnangarra were the only people editing, but Pam Hartree (the local history librarian at Freo library) was being exceptionally helpful with digging out documents and whatnot to help us along, and Roel Loopers (from the Fremantle Society) was providing moral support.

I'll let Gnangarra talk about the material that the SRO loaned us for the day, because despite wanting to read through the 1909 Head Teacher's journal from Princess May Girls' School, I got rather engrossed in going through some more information about the Fremantle Society Photographic Survey of 1978. This is a slow little project I've been tinkering with on the side for a year or so, using Commons as the sole online catalogue and archive for these prints.

So I think the edit-a-thon was a success! Just not in terms of outside interest. :-(
