Social media remains a great way for people to connect with organisations such as Wikimedia Australia. But there's been several changes in the past twelve months, with people leaving Twitter and moving to new communities on Mastodon or elsewhere.

We also relaunched our YouTube channel after relaunching our Instagram in December 2021, so this seemed like a great time to look at some stats.

=== Twitter ===
Although Twitter users began migrating away from the website near the end of 2022, we managed to gain followers throughout the year.

Although the stats look good, we have noticed that engagement is down, in terms of comments and discussion. This could be because many of our followers moved to Mastodon, but it might also signal a change in the way people interact with Twitter now.

Mention ESEAP live tweeting, and WOW2022 account.

=== Facebook ===
Most of our posts on Facebook are liked between ??? times.

=== Instagram ===
Since relaunching in December 2021, our Instagram has posted at least once per month. Sometimes more often, but it has depended on if we have anything to post. We've used it to share photos from events, promote upcoming events, and share photos from Wiki Loves Earth 2022.

More recently, we've been sharing Australian related images found on Wikimedia Commons, and posting one each Tuesday.

=== YouTube ===
After not getting much use for a while, we uploaded all of the ESEAP 2022 videos to our YouTube channel and have been trying to share more content regularly since. We created the Wikipedia for Beginners series to help with newcomers to Wikipedia, and this will be continuing with new videos added as topics are suggested.

=== Mastodon ===
As some of the Wiki community announced they were leaving Twitter for Mastodon, we joined them in ???. So far we have been less active there than on Twitter. We occasionally share events and topics we think will interest people, but have found it to be less active.

=== Newsletters ===
In September 2022, we relaunched our Announce newsletter. This is a monthly email with updates for people who aren't members of Wikimedia Australia, but who want to know what's coming up and what we've been working on.

These are archived in the News section on our website, so we can easily share them on social media too.
