Financial statements

The attached financial statements will be submitted to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission as part of our annual information statement.

Assets

The association held assets of $896,156.92 at 30 June 2026, on a cash basis. There was:

$756,056.60 in the cash reserve account
$3,295.60 in the PayPal account
$425.00 in the cheque account
$100,000.00 in the term deposit
$26,165.69 in the Transaction account
$9,935.43 in the debit card account
$278.60 accounts receivable

Liabilities

As at 30 June 2026 the association had liabilities of $4,248.61.

Income

WMAU received a total of $1,341,815.40 revenue in the 2025-26 financial year, made up of operational income and grant income. Income included:

Membership fees: $914.00
Donations: $21,923.14
Sales and other revenue: $930 (when external organisation pays for our staff or volunteers to present programs that fall outside our core programs)
Interest: $10,954.21

Expenditure

Most of Wikimedia Australia’s work and expenditure in 2025-26 centred on events and partnerships including a successful WikiCon Canberra in April 2026 and the work from Terri Janke and Company on the Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and Indigenous Data Sovereignty Guide.

Operations

Over 2025-26 our operations have grown to help support our expanding work plan. We now have 3 staff that have allowed greater impact and reach for our organisation and have been able to offer a modest pay rise while increasing the time fraction of one staff member to full-time. We acknowledge also that we have been served well by KeyAdmin for accounting support and management of payroll and associated taxation processes. In addition to expenses against the grants there are ongoing operational costs in keeping the association well-managed, including bank fees, software and subscriptions, insurance, and communications.
