Wikimedia Australia presented a half-day workshop for the Wikimedia community, library staff, GLAM professionals, researchers and educators at ACMI X, Level 4/2 Kavanagh Street Southbank Melbourne.

2.00pm Welcome and introductions Pru Mitchell

2.10pm Keynote: Wikidata: linking the GLAM sector and the web - Andy Mabbett

An accessible and engaging introduction to Wikidata and its relationship to the work of Galleries, Libraries, Museums, Archives and education. Andy's presentation will address: What is Wikidata? Why does the GLAM sector need to know about this? Who verifies the quality of Wikidata? How can individuals and organisations contribute and how will this data be used?

Andy Mabbett hails from Birmingham, England, and has been a Wikipedia editor (as User:Pigsonthewing) since 2003 and involved with Wikidata since its inception in 2012. His has experience working with the GLAM sector as a Wikipedian-in-Residence with organisations including ORCID, TED, The Royal Society of Chemistry, and Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum.
