This proposal was developed at the Meeting:Public (2012-07-01).
w:user:gnangarra suggested that Wikimedia Australia hold townhall type events across the country in 2013, with members of the committee attending, to engage with smaller local glams, editors and local media. This proposal is aligned with the strategic item Strategic Plan#Core: Support volunteer initiatives.
Each town hall meeting should be attended by a few committee members, possibly other intrastate and interstate community members, and where possible we should bring an international community member to the events.
2013 schedule
In 2013, we will budget for at least two townhall meetings for every state and territory, where one must be a regional location (as defined by our proposal:regional workshop program), and budget for four townhall meetings to be held in nearby countries without their own Wikimedia chapter, being Oceania, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.
Sydney and Melbourne may have up to three townhall meetings, however they must be in different parts of the cities.
